If you attended the last meeting, or got e-mails about it, I'm sure you are aware there are video copies of the meeting that you can watch. For me personally this was handy because although I am a decent note-taker, without the videos there was no way to fully communicate all the information and the tone of the meeting to my husband who stayed home.
The idea is out there to purchase a camcorder to record all meetings and post the videos for the purpose of informing those who can't attend and for "backing-up" the contents of the minutes. It would be easy to solve arguments over what happened at a meeting if all it took was reviewing a video.
What are your thoughts on this? What Association events would you like to see recorded? Or do you think we should not be recording at all? What do you think is a reasonable amount to spend on a camcorder for this purpose?
Video recording all Association and Board Meetings, and posting same for viewing by the Association Members at their convenience would be appropriate and the cost involved minimal ($1.00 per door x 1,029 doors.)
ReplyDeleteThe Meeting Minutes vary in quality by Board Secretary at any particular time, as can be seen at the Association’s website.
Many members have families with children expecting dinner before 8:00 o’clock at night.
Most work during the week and prefer to come home and relax rather than attend an HOA briefing, and some use public transport to commute – heaven forbid the Seahawks or Mariners elect to play a ballgame when people are trying escape Seattle to get home – many times arriving home well after 7:00 o’clock.
Why the Members have allowed ‘Board Meetings’ to be conducted during the evenings of a work-day rather than the morning, afternoon or early evening of a Saturday escapes me, but if that is the preference of the Members, it would seem more than appropriate for the Members to authorize the Board to purchase a camcorder, tripod and back-up battery to ensure all can be recorded in “one-take” and post all for viewing, by all.
(Creating an ‘AV Committee’ for that purpose is a simple task.)
